Explore Alaska’s wildlife and landscapes on the Alaska Wildlife & Glacier Train Tour.
This full-day trip combines a wildlife visit with a train journey to Spencer Glacier, creating the perfect way to experience Alaska’s natural wonders.
Begin at the Girdwood Train Depot, where a shuttle takes you to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This center provides a safe home for orphaned and rehabilitated animals, including bears and moose. A guided tour offers insight into the animals and their habitat.
Next, board the Glacier Discovery Train and travel through mountain scenery toward Spencer Glacier. Along the way, watch for bald eagles and Dall sheep as you pass through remote landscapes.
Upon arrival, take part in a gentle float across Spencer Glacier Lake. Your guide will navigate past massive icebergs, offering views of Spencer Glacier and the nearby peaks. This relaxing Class I-II float lets you enjoy the surroundings while staying dry. If you prefer to avoid splashes, ask your guide for a seat in the drier section of the raft.
After the raft tour, board the Glacier Discovery Train for a comfortable return ride to Portage Station, completing your trip.
